MID2 Portal Updates 06/01/2026
As part of our ongoing work on the https://mid2.mds.uk/ portal, MDS will be deploying an update to the website. The portal will be taken offline while the work is taking place. This will be happening at 12pm on 06/01/2026 and we expect the portal to be back up after half an hour. 31/12/2025 09:22:00
Server Maintenance - 15th January 2026
MDS will be performing essential maintenance between 12:00 and 15:00 on Thursday 15th January 2026. Our systems will be unavailable during this time. SFTP, API, Email, MIDAS, MIDI, MID1, and MID2 platforms will all be impacted by this planned maintenance. The subsequent morning's planned MID runs will go as expected; the maintenance day afternoon MID runs will run but may be delayed. Once all systems are back online, the evening's internal processes will be lined up to prepare for the following morning which will run as normal. 22/12/2025 09:00:00
Third Party essential maintenance - 8th of January 2026
Due to essential maintenance to be conducted by our third-party Data Centre between 19:00 on Thursday the 8th of January and 1am on Friday the 9th of January 2026, MDS systems will likely be unavailable during this time. MID1, MID2, New MID2, MID2 type 2, MID check API, SFTP, API, Email, MIDAS, MID2.MDS, MTPL & other MDS Platforms will all be impacted by the planned downtime. Thursday morning’s MID run will go as expected, as will the MID1 & MID2 MID uploads occurring at 14:15 & 18:00 (MID1) and 16:00 (MID2) respectively. The 10pm MID2 MID upload will not run at all. Once all systems are back online, Friday’s MID run will be as normal across all platforms and services. 21/12/2025 09:00:00
MID2 Mobile friendly policy list

About MDS
Motor Data Solutions Ltd (MDS) is a privately owned company based in Sussex, specialising in the provision of MID services to the Motor Insurance industry.
We are an authorised supplier to many insurers, and are registered with the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) as Delegated Authority (DA) 060.
MDS was formed in 2001 and, having outgrown both the Bristol and subsequent London offices, has now settled in its new home in Haywards Heath.
We operate in three main areas:
- As an updating service for larger fleets, primarily for vehicle leasing companies and brokers, allowing them to support any of their customers with any insurer. Our outsourced approach to automating and auditing these fleets allows our clients to avoid the need for any of their staff to update the MID
- As a turnkey solution for insurers for the MID, including interactions with the MIB, a help desk for the policyholders, policy management, vehicle data collection and reporting, user management, compliance and reporting
- As an interface to the MID for those agencies (MGA’s, brokers, sub brokers) which underwrite on behalf of UK and offshore risk carriers but where there is no full cycle EDI solution available. As part of this interface, MDS can also arrange to collect vehicle lists from Motor Traders, which can be managed by the traders using their mobile devices with appropriate reporting flowing to the agency
